Iyengar Yoga Workshop Series
Dr. Chiappino is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) offering both private and group yoga workshops to those seeking to better manage their medical conditions without resorting to prescription medication. Special instructional sessions are also available to yoga practitioners wishing to utilize therapeutic yoga for their clients.
Yoga classes are based on Iyengar principles that advocate use of supportive props to achieve structural alignment of the body through various postures called “asanas.” The asanas are customized to target specific body segment issues. For example, for neck or neurological conditions, a “prescription” for a specific asana will be advised. Other postures are recommended for patients with shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand issues as well as those for lower extremity conditions such as hip, knee, ankle, and foot pain.
Class Update:
Dr. Chiappino will be holding a series of classes specifically designed for those who have conditions that may prevent them from taking traditional yoga classes. The students will learn how to modify postures to accomodate their bodies and rehabilitate their conditions. The cost for each class is $15.
