 LEARN HOW TO
REHABILITATE YOUR BACK
WITH YOGA

 

On Sunday, September 28th 12-4pm, Dr. Keri Chiappino, Chiropractic Neurologist and Dr. Joannes Cesiro, Physical Therapist, will be conducting a comprehensive four-hour workshop designed to assist in learning yoga postures that targest specific conditions.

The first in a series of 4 workshops will focus on the middle and lower back, targeting such conditions as sciatica, spinal stenosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, herniated disc, arthritis, and poor posture. The workshop will be devoted to learning anatomy and be used to give personal attention to those suffering from these conditions, empowering them to take a proactive part in their own rehabilitation through specific yoga postures.  There will be plenty of time for breaks and questions and the workshop will be tailored to the specific needs of the participants.

The workshop is open to all including sufferers, yoga teachers wishing to broaden their knowledge, and anyone curious about anatomy.  Participation in this first workshop is available at the introductory rate of $95.   The remaining three will be $125 each.

Dr. Keri Chiappino, DC, DACNB is a Chiropractic Neurologist in private practice for 12 years in Smithtown and Manhattan.  She works with patients with neurological challenges including chronic pain, learning disabilities, and vestibular disorders.  She has practiced yoga for over 10 years and is a RYT with the Yoga Alliance.  With this certification she has developed therapeutic yoga sequences to benefit her patients.  

Joanne Cesiro, DPT, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy currently working as a Staff Physical Therapist in Stony Brook University Hospital’s Outpatient PT clinic.  She treats orthopedic, neurological, chronic pain and lymphedema patients, and teaches a therapeutic yoga class to patients one evening a week at the clinic.  She has been a student of Iyengar yoga since 1979, and traveled to India to study with the Iyengar’s in 1995.  She holds an Introductory Level Certification in the Iyengar method, and is a member of the International Yoga Therapist Association.  She has been teaching yoga on Long Island for over 20 years, and is a past president of the Long Island Yoga Association.
